What Documents Do I Need to Bring for My Personal Taxes?

Typical Personal Tax Documents Include:

  • Previous Two Years’ Tax Returns
  • W-2 – Wages from employment
  • 1099-NEC – Nonemployee compensation (contractors)
  • 1099-MISC – Miscellaneous income
  • 1099-INT – Interest income
  • 1099-DIV – Dividend income
  • 1099-B – Stock/crypto sales
  • 1099-R – Retirement distributions
  • SSA-1099 – Social Security benefits
  • 1098 – Mortgage interest
  • 1098-T – Tuition statement

Business Documents Needed:

  • Previous Tax Return
  • Profit and Loss Statement
  • Balance Sheet for the past Two Years
  • EIN Document
  • If there are partners:
    • Partner Name
    • Partner Social Security Number
    • Partner Address
    • Partner’s Percentage of the Company

How does the Process Work?

New Clients, Please Fill Out This Form: New Client Intake Form

When you are ready to begin the tax preparation process, please contact our office.

We will then:

  • Send you an Engagement Letter
  • Send you an Invoice
  • Once the Engagement Letter is signed AND the invoice is Paid, we will then put your return in line to be prepared.
  • If we have any questions during the preapration, we will call you.
  • When your return is ready for you to review, we will call or text you.
  • We will email or print your return for you to review.
  • Once you (and your spouse) have reviewed and signed the return, we will E-File it for you.
  • After your return is filed, it is then in the IRS’s hands, and we no longer have control of it. You will need to contact the IRS with any questions.

Can Tom Crews, CPA, file an extension for me?

Yes.

  • We Do Not automatically file extensions. You must contact us and request an extension.
  • Please fill out this form and return it to our office.
  • We will then send you an invoice for the $50 filing fee.
  • Once the invoice is paid, we will then file an extension for you.
  • The extension postpones the Filing Date, not the tax due date for six(6) Months
  • The new Filing Deadline is September 15th(S-Corps and Partnerships) and October 15th (Indivuals and C-Corps)

How do I get my Documents to the Firm?

  • You can Drop your Documents off in person at our office.
  • You can Email Us your Documents.
  • You can fill out our Portal Invite Form.
    • You can email this form Here.
    • You will receive a portal invite.
    • You will upload your documents to the portal.
    • You Must let us know when all of your documents are uploaded. We do not check the portal until then.
    • The onboarding process mentioned above will then begin.

QuickBooks Question

How do I send a QuickBooks Online Invite to the firm?

  • Login to your QuickBooks Online
  • Go to the Gear in the Upper Righthand Side
  • Select Manage Users
  • Accounting Firm
  • Enter Our Firm ID: 3508 28516
  • Contact Us and let us know that the invite has been sent.
